December Update

Add Chapters to Videos: More Structure, More Convenience

This December, we launched two exciting new features to make your life easier.

Our player now allows you to add chapters, making your videos not only clearer, but also enhancing the user experience. You might know this feature from platforms like YouTube or other major players. With the latest Ignite Player update, you can now implement it too — no complicated custom solutions needed and no privacy issues.

With chapters, your viewers can jump directly to the exciting sections without having to scrub through the entire video. This is particularly useful for:

  • How-to Videos and Tutorials: Viewers can skip straight to the part that answers their question.
  • Product Demonstrations: Showcase your features step by step.
  • Interviews or Talks: Let your audience access key quotes and topics directly.
  • Education and e-learning: Make complex content easier to understand and navigate.

In general, chapters are great for any long video on your website.

We’re super excited to see how you’ll use this feature! 🚀

Guide for Ignite: How to Add Chapters to a Video

You can find the new feature on the video detail page in the Video Management tool.

  • Add as many chapters as you like. But remember, less is often more. For videos under 10 minutes, we recommend 4-5 chapters.
  • Add chapter titles. Titles can be up to 35 characters long—clear enough to convey the purpose, but short enough to avoid clutter. This limit is especially important for mobile displays, where longer titles might get cut off.
  • Drag & Drop sorting: Arrange the chapters as you prefer. Once saved, they will automatically be sorted chronologically.
  • Chapters visible in the player: Your viewers can see and navigate through the chapters directly in the player.
  • Optional: If you choose not to use the Ignite Player (e.g., if you use it to autoplay video within a stage), the chapters won’t be displayed—keeping things flexible for your needs.

This feature doesn’t just make your videos more structured; it also improves usability, ensuring a better experience for your audience. The functionality is available immediately across all Ignite packages without any restrictions.

Also New in December: 2-Factor Authentication

Looking for more security? You can now activate 2FA (2-Factor Authentication) in your account. It’s simple to set up and works seamlessly with popular tools like Google Authenticator.

With 2FA, you add an extra layer of protection to your account—especially important if multiple people on your team are using it.
