As soon as a video has subtitles, which you can also generate and translate automatically with Ignite, you can let Ignite Video suggest chapters with a single click.

This only takes a few seconds. You then get a structured chapter overview that you can use immediately or refine editorially.

The feature is available for all plans starting with the Basic package.

How it works

Subtitles are used as the content basis. The AI reads the text, detects the video context, and creates meaningful breakpoints for chapters.

The generated chapters are a solid proposal you can refine in no time. That is what makes the difference in the workflow. The AI handles the time-consuming groundwork. You focus on the fine-tuning.

Which videos benefit most from AI chapters

Automatic chapters are especially useful when a video has several clearly separated sections. Typical examples include:

• Product demos where features are shown step by step
• Training and onboarding videos with learning sections
• Webinar recordings with changing topics and Q&A
• Videos with recurring structures such as setups, tips, and summaries
• Event recordings where individual talks should be separated

If viewers regularly jump to specific parts of your videos, chapters are not a nice-to-have. They are part of a good user experience.

They also help people with visual or auditory impairments navigate videos more easily. Alongside subtitles, chapters further improve video accessibility.

The process is intentionally short so it fits into a normal publishing workflow.

1. Upload the video to Ignite Video
2. Switch to the Content tab
3. Provide subtitles, either by uploading them or generating them with Ignite AI
4. Generate chapters with one click
5. Review the suggestions and adjust them editorially if needed
6. Do not forget to save everything ;)
7. Test it.

After generation, the chapters appear directly in the editor. The video player automatically applies the chapters, even if the video is already embedded.

Generating AI chapters uses your AI credits. (You should plan one credit per ten minutes of video length.)

In practice, the AI suggestion is often very close. Still, a short editorial review is worth it. Good chapter titles are specific, consistent, and easy to understand.

Limitations and things to consider

As mentioned, the AI relies on subtitles. If no subtitles are available, the feature is not active. This leads to a natural limitation. If there is no spoken content in the video, there are usually no subtitles, and the AI lacks the basis to create chapters.

The feature is also automatically disabled when chapters already exist to prevent them from being overwritten by accident. If you want a new suggestion, you need to delete the existing chapters first.

As always, all processing happens within our infrastructure in Europe. Your videos are not used to train the AI.
